Whitstable is a quirky seaside town on the north coast of Kent, its not too many miles away from the historic cathedral city of Canterbury and a few miles west of the seaside town of Herne Bay. Whitstable is infamous for its ‘Native Oysters’ which have been collected from beds beyond the low water mark since Roman times. This history is celebrated every year by the Whitstable Oyster Festival, which takes place during the summer.
I moved to Whitstable sometime ago and have been lucky enough to benefit from its development into what I feel is the perfect UK base. Fresh sea air, just over one hour to London and only 45 minutes to the port of Dover where the rest of the world can be driven, hitchhiked of walked too!
